How We Began

Our Story

Though our roots began in different parts of the world, Honduras is where our story began.

We first met when we were young, and even as life took us in different directions, our story was already unfolding. Nearly two decades later, our paths crossed again.

In God's perfect timing, we discovered what had always been meant to be.

Some stories are written in a moment. Ours was written over a lifetime.

Beyond the Wedding

Welcome to Tegucigalpa

Our favorite places to explore, discover, and experience the local charm

Santa Lucía

Santa Lucía

Pine hills above the city

A storybook colonial village in the pine-covered hills just above Tegucigalpa — cobblestone lanes, flower-draped balconies, a whitewashed church, and a little lagoon. An easy, postcard-perfect half-day trip.

Where to eat · Mami Lee (see Dining)

Parque Nacional La Tigra

Parque Nacional La Tigra

Los Planes

A lush cloud forest just outside the city — one of the most beautiful escapes near Tegucigalpa. The trails are gorgeous: mossy paths, little wooden footbridges, and several waterfalls along the way. Pick an easy 1–2 hour loop or the full traverse (about 4–6 hours) — and lucky for you, November is dry season, perfect for hiking. Bring water, good shoes, and a snack.

Valle de Ángeles

Valle de Ángeles

Francisco Morazán

A charming colonial town just outside the city — cobblestone streets, colorful artisan shops, and traditional Honduran crafts. Perfect for a leisurely stroll, souvenirs, and local food.

Where to eat · Plaza Eden (see Dining)

Cristo de El Picacho

Cristo de El Picacho

Cerro El Picacho

A hilltop park with the towering Christ monument seen across the city. Enjoy a walk, amazing views, and local food. Entry is ~L50 per person; bring lempiras, as not every spot takes cards.

Coffee with a view · Cafetalino (see Dining)

Museo para la Identidad Nacional

Museo para la Identidad Nacional

Centro Histórico

A beautiful introduction to Honduras's story — from the ancient Maya to today — including a stunning virtual tour of the Copán ruins. Perfect for first-time visitors wanting context before they explore.

Where to Dine

Our favorite tables — from family traditions to the best near your hotel

A Family Tradition

La Pana

$$★ 4.4

Italian · family ristorante

Opened by the bride's Italian family, who first brought Naples to Honduras with their bakery, La Panadería Napoli. A charming, welcoming spot serving the Balletta family's original Italian recipes, a vast wine and cocktail list, and the most amazing tiramisu. The bride's picks: el carpaccio, berenjena a la parmesana, pasta vincenzo, la bellagio, and the pizza la pana.

A Family Legacy

Nicolati's

$★ 5.0

Crêpes & coffee

The groom's own family — more than a century in coffee. We opened Nicolati's to honor his grandfather, Nicolás. Just a humble couple of cozy stores serving crêpes and coffee — but a labor of love we're proud to share.

The Couple's Favorite

Rojo

$$★ 4.5

Italian-influenced · international

Now simply Rojo — a beloved, deeply traditional place where both the bride's and the groom's parents danced the night away in their youth, and where we've spent countless evenings since. A mix of Italian and international cuisine, a wide cocktail list, and the bride's favorite: dirty martinis.

Pulpa

A sultry new hi-fi sound bar right next to Rojo — listen closely, taste slowly. Reservations only, with cocktails in a moody, music-lover's setting.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked

November in Tegucigalpa can vary, but we recommend bringing a light sweater. For the wedding, bring a cover-up — the venue is up in the mountains and it can get breezy and a little chilly at night.

The closest international airport to Tegucigalpa is Palmerola International Airport (XPL), about an hour from the city.

See the Stay & Travel section above — we provide information on arranged transport you can use. Private cars and hotel transport are recommended.

The city is not generally walkable; we recommend only moving on foot near your hotel. Guests at Hyatt Place can walk around Los Próceres — plenty of restaurants, with Novacentro Mall and a supermarket right around the corner.

The Friday welcome is Casual Elegant. The Saturday wedding is Black Tie — tuxedos and floor-length gowns. Bring a wrap for the cool mountain evening.

Yes — we recommend carrying some lempiras. Many places accept cards, but smaller spots and attractions may be cash-only.
